PLIOSAUR

The boys and I just finished a science chapter about swimming primeval reptiles. We learned that the many giant marine reptiles that have left fossil remains can be split up into four basic types. In the group of plesiosaurs is a reptile with a very large head called a pliosaur. We made a rough drawing on our driveway with chalk to see for ourselves approximately how big this fella's head would have been. Using dimensions given in the book, the boys made a rough sketch of a pliosaur skull. Below, William is holding the science book.It was hard to get a good picture of the drawing. The chalk didn't show up very well. But here are the boys standing in front of it. The banana on the ground was to show about what size his teeth would have been.
Here is Calvin sitting next to the mouth. We decided we definitely might faint if we were swimming alongside a pliosaur.
They all wanted to try jumping over this enormous head.
Sam's turn.
And Ben.

My new nickname for Benny is "Gusto." He does everything with a lot of gusto!! This can be good and bad. They're going to know him by name at the ER, but Peter always says if he was going to go to battle he'd want Benny going with him.

Oh, wow ! What great photos. I just wish I could join in on some of these lessons and their practical applications. That jumping would have been fun.
You all light up my day with such love and brightness.
I treasure our friendship. Here is a hug for each one of you.
